Production project – My final year project and why it’s important to me

Growing up with two parents who each owned their own small business, I’ve seen how tough it can be to keep up to date in recent years. With how fast paced social media is now my parents don’t have the time or the knowledge to effectively market their businesses. So I started to learn for them, for my production project module, which I am currently doing at the time of writing this, I started by writing a literature review on ‘how can marketing strategies effectively enhance brand visibility for small businesses’. This is because I am helping my mum open a new sustainable vintage clothing store, where I am responsible for all things design from the branding to the design of the shop itself. But my main responsibility is marketing, with a heavy focus on social media marketing. Being able to help my mum in this way makes this the most exciting project I’ve ever been apart of, and that’s how I found my passion. Being able to use my knowledge and design skills to promote a business that not only aligns with my values but also has personal value is an experience I will forever be grateful for. Especially as this is my first real project that is going out to the world not just my professors. Lastly my portfolio will be updated to include all this work by the end of May so if you’re interested to see the results please check back then.
